GATELESS | A Collection of Liberation

In the summer of 2023, while at the Catskills Zendo, a Buddhist monk gave me a profound blessing—GATELESS—affirming my spiritual path and marking a turning point in my journey. It followed my previous collection, "The Key to My Cage," where I sought to break free from confinement and step into a new existence beyond captivity.

This collection is deeply autobiographical, exploring themes of violence, immigration and oppression, while also reflecting the transformative healing I’ve experienced through plant medicine.

Inspired by "The Gateless Gate," a compilation of Zen koans, this collection embodies the paradox of barriers—insurmountable to the unawakened, yet nonexistent to those who see beyond illusion. In self-realization, the notion of inside and outside dissolves, revealing absolute freedom.

Through GATELESS, I invite you on a transformative journey, where limits disappear, new paths emerge, and the universe opens before you.

A Sustainable Art-to-Wear Collection of Resilience & Transformation

This eco-conscious collection reimagines fashion as art, merging sustainability with storytelling. Each garment is individually handcrafted, featuring rust-printed fabrics, burnt textile techniques, intricate cutouts, and fabric manipulations—creating one-of-a-kind pieces that embody transformation.

Building upon my previous collection, "The Key to Your Cage," the designs integrate objects from that series, now rusted over time. Rust, a natural process where iron interacts with oxygen and moisture, symbolizes aging, vulnerability, and the passage of time—a metaphor for the scars we carry and the barriers we break.

The burnout technique and cutouts represent purification and renewal, shedding past identities to emerge stronger. Alongside vintage garments, the collection features reworked military bags and canvas textiles, reinforcing themes of survival and rebirth.
