MINIMAL COMPLEX | LOW POLY ILLUSTRATION & DIGITAL ART
Exploring the Beauty of Complexity Through Geometric Precision
What began as a personal passion project quickly became a defining moment in my career, establishing me as a leader in the digital illustration world specializing in low poly illustration. By meticulously arranging triangles of different shapes and sizes, I transform images of legendary figures into mesmerizing artworks that balance hyperrealism and abstraction.
From 2014 to 2018, I dedicated myself to developing "Minimal Complex," a project that gained international recognition and even caught the attention of the retail department at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) for a potential internship. Each illustration is meticulously crafted by hand in Adobe Illustrator, without the use of AI or automation. The process begins with a 1D geometric framework, which gradually evolves into a 3D structure with color, light, and depth. The portraits are then deconstructed, revealing the transformation from geometric abstraction to hyperrealistic representation—merging technical precision with artistic storytelling.
This project led to:
Collaborations with Condé Nast, New York-based ad agencies such as 432c, Circus Maximus, and Candy Pratts Price’s "CandyCast" fashion project.
Commercial illustration work for Sensodyne Rapid Relief, creating illustrated portraits for their campaigns.
Logo design, branding, and advertising illustration for major brands and educational initiatives.
Exhibitions in the U.S. and Colombia, showcasing the fusion of digital precision and fine art.
Merchandise collaborations with Redbubble, allowing people worldwide to own and wear my work.
Features in leading design publications, including Adobe Illustrator, DesignTaxi, Digital Arts Online, and Fubiz.
The impact of "Minimal Complex" also led Domestika to invite me to create a course on logo design or digital illustration. However, at the time, I was deeply immersed in art and fashion, which ultimately led to the development of my textile design course instead.
Although my career has since expanded into fashion and textile art, I remain open to commissions and projects using this technique, continuing to push the boundaries of digital illustration, geometric abstraction, and visual storytelling.
