The Alphabet as a Portal to Nature and Self-Discovery

The Animalis Abecedārium is a pop-up book, coloring book, and sticker set designed to introduce children to the English alphabet through an immersive, philosophical, and visual learning experience. Rooted in the Latin word animalis—meaning “to have breath, soul, or to be alive”—this project encourages children to recognize themselves as part of the natural world, rather than separate from it.

The book begins with the statement "I AM AN ANIMAL", accompanied by a mirror, allowing children to see themselves and understand their place in the animal kingdom. The alphabet journey unfolds through low poly illustrations, where each letter is represented by an animal, paired with symbolic designs that emerge from their interaction with a character.

By combining paper architecture, illustration, and interactive design, the Animalis Abecedārium makes learning both engaging and thought-provoking. This project fosters a deeper appreciation for nature, creativity, and the connection between language and the world around us while transforming alphabet learning into an experience of self-awareness and play.
