THE SHADOW BOX THEATRE | BRAND REDESIGN & DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
Bringing a Legacy of Children’s Theatre into the Modern Digital World
The Shadow Box Theatre (SBT) is a non-profit children’s theatre that has brought musicals, puppetry, storytelling, and art workshops to children across New York City for over five decades. With a mission to inspire young minds through theatre arts, SBT encourages creativity, diversity, and humanistic values, teaching children about bullying prevention, peaceful solutions, and environmental appreciation.
SBT approached me for a full web redesign and rebranding project, looking to modernize their brand while preserving its legacy and recognizable identity. My goal was to transition SBT from a vintage aesthetic to a modern, digital-first experience while maintaining its essential design elements:
Revitalizing the mascot, transforming its original illustrated boy into a simplified yet expressive synthesis of a child’s face.
Preserving the iconic color palette, ensuring brand continuity while making the visuals more engaging and dynamic.
Creating a fun, approachable, and creative identity that resonates with children, parents, and school communities alike.
For the past three years, I have collaborated with SBT on an ongoing brand development process, contributing to their Brand Architecture, Visual Identity, Digital Design, Marketing & Merchandising, Web Design, and Graphic Design. Through this partnership, I have helped evolve SBT’s brand into a vibrant, accessible, and modern digital presence, ensuring that their artistic mission continues to reach and inspire new generations.
