FORWARD MUSIC PROJECT | ALBUM VISUAL DESIGN
Designing the Sound of Feminine Empowerment
The Forward Music Project (FMP), founded by Amanda Gookin, amplifies stories of feminine empowerment through music, performance, and educational initiatives. I collaborated with FMP for two years, designing the album covers, booklets, CDs, and portraits of featured artists while directing the overall visual style of each album.
For the first album, I created low poly illustrations for the booklet, featuring artist portraits to visually reflect the bold and dynamic energy of the compositions.
For the second album, I explored the use of light in the design, enhancing the emotional depth and rawness of the music through thoughtful typography, color palettes, illustration, photo editing, and layout design.
By bridging the worlds of visual storytelling and sound, this project allowed me to translate music into imagery, reflecting the emotion, power, and message of each composition.
The Forward Music Project was supported by the NYC Women’s Fund for Media, Music, and Theatre through the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment in association with the New York Foundation for the Arts. It was an honor to contribute to this women-led movement, visually capturing the spirit of the project through design.
